Parker Pear: Introduced at the University of Minnesota in 1934. Open-pollinated seedling of a Manchurian pear. This is a popular choice for home orchards in colder climates. Unlike many pears that require picking while green, Parker pears can often be tree-ripened without developing core rot, though picking slightly early (when skin turns lighter green) can extend refrigerated storage. Large, yellow-bronze fruit. Fine-grained, tender, and juicy. Upright and vigorous grower. Pollinator for 'Luscious'. Zone 3-8
