- Appearance: The silver maple is known for its distinctive leaves, which have five deeply cut lobes and a silvery underside. This silvery appearance is where the tree gets its name. The leaves turn a pale yellow in the fall.
- Growth and Size: Silver maples are fast-growing trees, often reaching 50 to 80 feet, with some specimens growing even taller. They have a broad, rounded crown and can spread out to a width of 35 to 50 feet.
- Habitat: This tree is commonly found in moist, lowland areas such as riverbanks and floodplains. It is well-suited to wet soils but can also tolerate a range of soil types, including clay and sandy soils.
